Lady Shuttlers bag first win

Ateneo started week three of UAAP women’s badminton action with a 4-1 win against NU, but ended on a sour note losing to UST 1-4.

The Lady Eagles’ bagged their first win of the season against NU last Saturday at the Rizal Memorial Complex. The blue belles had a rough start, losing their first singles game 17-21, 16-21. But they picked up from there. Team captain Carla Lizardo won the second singles game 21-13,21-15 to kick off a streak that boost the team’s confidence.

On Sunday, the exact opposite happened. Ateneo started strong winning the first singles game. Captain Lizardo showed that she was a force to be reckoned with as she topped UST 21-12 in the first set. She pulled out all the stops to put Ateneo on the scoreboard with a 25-23 win in the second set. But things went downhill from there. UST scored off powerful attacks as well as Ateneo’s errors.

The Lady Eagles hope for another win on Saturday when they go up against FEU.
