Lady Eagles escape UE in OT

The Lady Eagles clinched their fourth win of the season after winning 70-67 against the UE Amazons in overtime.

Ateneo cruised through the first half looking like they had this one in the bag. But a different UE squad came out in the third with 21 points and limited Ateneo to only 8.

A basket by Sarah Mercado with 20 seconds left in the fourth forced the game into overtime and erased the UE lead.

The Lady Eagles started the extra period slow, but a three by Mercado put momentum on their side.

The women’s basketball team need to win their final two games against La Salle and NU to finish behind the final four teams.

They play La Salle on Sept 11, Saturday at the FilOil Arena.
