With the Season 77 opener of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Baseball Tournament upon us, the two-time defending national champions, Ateneo de Manila University Blue Batters, took the diamond at Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium with a 5-3 win over Adamson University. Making a pivotal mark in the first third of the game, the Blue Batters were able to outlast all 9 innings and bring home a “W” back to Katipunan.

CAPPING OFF the elimination round with an unblemished 7-0 record, the Ateneo Lady Eagles edged their arch rivals, the De La Salle University (DLSU) Lady Spikers, in a thrilling five-setter match, held last Sunday, January 11 at the Mall of Asia Arena. In a repeat of last year’s championship round, the ladies from Katipunan bested the Archers, grinding out the victory in five sets, 25-22, 25-27, 16-25, 25-14, and 15-9.

FRESH FROM a bronze medal finish in the recently concluded 17th ASEAN University Games, the Ateneo Lady Eagles grinded another win to remain undefeated this season, outlasting the University of the Philippines (UP) Lady Maroons, 3-2, in their thrilling encounter that extended to a fifth set last Sunday, January 4 at the San Juan Arena.
